As of today, no new cases has been declared nor reported ... just hope it will stay as such...

Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Ismail Merican, however, said 167 new patients with symptoms of influenza-like illness (ILI) had been hospitalised for treatment and 166 of them had been discharged.

"The current number of ILI cases still under treatment nationwide is 699 at 80 hospitals, with seven of the patients in private hospitals," he added.

He added that from the total ILI patients being treated, only 28 of them (four per cent) were Influenza A cases confirmed through laboratory tests, with five of them (18 per cent) in the ICU.

All the five cases in the ICU had risk factors, including three children under five years of age, he added.

The death toll due to Influenza A (H1N1) remain at 77.

Just pray that it will stick to it.

Influenza A(H1N1) is still active and spreading in the community despite a reduction in cases of late, said Health director-general of Malaysia,Tan Sri Dr Mohd Ismail Merican.

He advised the public to take precautions and abide by the guidelines set by the ministry, and to refrain from visiting crowded areas.

“The are no new deaths from the flu and the death toll remains at 77,” he said in a statement on Monday.

He said 123 influenza-like illness (ILI) patients were admitted while 106 more were discharged on Monday.

Of the 743 ILI patients warded, 9% or 66 of them were confirmed to be infected with AH1N1; 15 of them are in intensive care units including one new case, while one other was discharged, he said.

He said 13 of the remaining patients in ICU were high-risk patients, seven were children below five, three have chronic diseases and three were obese persons.

Just be careful ... whenever you are planning to go to the public-infested area. Better sorry now rather then later ...

Malaysia plans to develop further its creative multimedia industry which now generates an annual revenue of over US$200mil.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the industry also created over 7,000 high-value-added creative jobs.

He said, to date, the MSC Malaysia creative multimedia content industry comprised about 200 companies that were mainly involved in post-production, animation, game development, e-learning as well as mobile and interactive content.

“We want to catalyse this industry to attain global recognition,” he said at the MIPCOM 2009 exhibition – the world’s audiovisual content market – here Monday.

Najib took a break from his working trip in Paris to fly here and give support to Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) Malaysia companies taking part in the five-day event.

He spoke of Malaysia’s growing enthusiasm to become a major player in the media entertainment industry in response to the high-level of demand from the creative multimedia market.

“We believe that Malaysia can be a meaningful and substantive contributor via creating impactful contents for the world,” he said.

Najib said the Government intended to capture the industry’s economic benefits by tapping the large reserves of creative and innovative capabilities of Malaysians.

“The industry’s growth potential is virtually limitless in this digital age,” he noted.

He also touched on the funding for co-production opportunities for animation, games and visual effects development and the e-Content fund for the development of Malaysian IP creation.

“The MSC could finance, develop and produce almost 100 creative projects over the next five to 10 years, creating over 10,000 jobs,” he said, extending his invitation to industry players to look at what Malaysia has to offer.

In fact, firms from MSC Malaysia, with the assistance from Multimedia Development Corp (MDeC), were accelerating development and production deals in North America and Europe.

The first deal would kick off with a production called War of the Worlds: Goliath, a science fiction film set in the 19th century.

Najib, however, said the rise of mobility and the Internet, the downward spiral of DVD revenue and the advent of the global financial crisis had all seemingly created a perfect storm that hit the content industry.

“But all these setbacks should not deter us from exploring fresh opportunities, especially in new areas of the industry.

“After all, if necessity is the mother of invention, perhaps crisis is the mother of innovation,” he added.

H1N1 Virus only transmit through contact and not air borne. Mask won't help much. Virus enters through eye, nose and mouth. Just don't touch faces with hands.

- Wash your hands often.

- Gargle throat with listerine to kill virus at throat.

- Vitamin C will definitely help to boost immune system.

- Take lots of water to wash down virus from throat, virus can't survive in stomach.

Precautionary measures and awareness programmes carried out by the authorities to combat the spread of Influenza A (H1N1), has resulted in disease remaining under control throughout the country, since no deaths were recorded since Sept 19.

Director-General of Health Tan Sri Dr Mohd Ismail Merican said the death toll due to Influenza A(H1N1) remained at 77 since Sept 19.

However, 40 new Influenza Like Illness (ILI) cases were admitted while 97 were discharged.

"The new admissions has raised the number ILI cases treated at 86 hospitals, including five private hospitals, throughout the country, to 704," he said in a statement today.

Dr Mohd Ismail said from the total receiving treatment, 113 or 16 percent were tested positive for H1N1 and 17 or them admitted at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

All those admitted to the ICU were in high-risk groups, comprising children below five years old (eight), obesity (four), chronic illness (three) and chronic respiratory illness (two), he added.

He said the H1N1 pandemic was still active and advised the public to seek immediate treatment should they have ILI.

Ministry of Home Affairs in a statement today said the research and revision Film Censorship Board (LPF) found that the film is not beyond the ethical culture of life and society in this country.


LPF find the film starring Sacha Boren Cohen is gay themed and contains pornographic scenes, chat with obscene words and also highlight the display shot
use of sexual devices.

"The film is also clearly affect the sensitivity of belief of the Christian religion," the statement said.

This action represent the alertness of the Malaysia authority in handling issues that will bear bad influence to the local society especially to the young citizen. To me, it is the right decision.

Bruno film distributor, Golden Screen Cinemas has been informed decision regarding the ban was through a letter dated August 6 and the distributors also informed about the fundamentals of the ban on the film filter together with a report to the film.

Foreign currency and traveler's cheques can be converted into Ringgit at banks or authorized money changers throughout the country.

Resident travelers are allowed to carry into and out of the country any amount not exceeding RM1,000 per person and also export foreign currency not exceeding the equivalent of RM10,000 per person.

Those who are carrying in excess of these - when entering or leaving the country - are required to obtain permission from the Controller of Foreign Exchange and declare in the Traveler's Declaration Form the exact amount of Ringgit carried. Approval is usually given within one day of application.

Non-residents are allowed to bring in any amount of foreign currency (including traveler's cheques). However, declaration in the Disembarkation Card issued by the Immigration Department is required when an amount in excess of US$2,500 is brought into the country.

Non-residents must also obtain permission and declare Ringgit exceeding RM1,000 when leaving or entering the country.

Coins circulation in the market now are 5 cents, 10 cents, 20 cents and 50 cents.

It used to have 1 cent and RM1 coins, but now it has been reclaimed by the government. So now, 1 cent and RM1 coin is useless, zero in value, except for coin collection purpose.

In the other hand, banknotes available are RM1, RM2, RM5, RM10, RM50 and RM100. It used to have RM500 and RM1000 but it had been reclaimed and demonetized to complement the Malaysia currency exchange control measures introduced in 1998. So, like the 1 cent and RM1 coin, the RM500 and RM1000 notes are meant for collection purpose only.

For coins, it has the maximum limits that you can use to make a payment in Malaysia currency. However, it has no limit for the banknotes usage.

For 50 cents, you can only make payment with 50 cents until ten Ringgit.

For coins less than 50 cents, you can only make payment with it until two Ringgit.

You can exchange foreign currency in any commercial banks or licensed money changer through out the country.

Malaysia currency exchange is not available outside of the country.

The 1Malaysia concept mooted by the prime minister is capable of breaking down walls that divide the races in the country, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Ahmad Maslan said.

He said that although Peninsular Malaysia, and Sabah and Sarawak are separated by the South China Sea, people of both territories are brought closer by the 1Malaysia spirit and integration through inter-marriages, education and business opportunities as well as employment.

"The 1Malaysia spirit and national integration should be further nurtured and strengthened to create a peaceful, prosperous and united Malaysia.

"Gaps among the states should also be narrowed through unity under the 1Malaysia roof," he told reporters after handing over donations to the disabled, single mothers and orphans at his in-laws' house in Kampung Siol Kandis here today.

Ahmad also said that the open house tradition would strengthen goodwill and friendship among the people of various races.

hi ... being born and brought up in a country which is special to me, makes me wonder what is so special about it. Looking at the neighboring countries, i think malaysia is special.

Recently the indonesian (a small group of them) protested against Malaysia due to a little misunderstanding created by outsider unintentionally. Well, somehow rather it causes quite an impact between the 2 countries. As a malaysian, to me it is a small issue that we should tackle it in a diplomatic way. The people in these 2 countries are close due to the fact that they are closely related especially on the south and west cost of peninsular malaysia and at the border of the east malaysia (Sabah and Sarawak). The native indonesian ethnics namely Java, Acheh, Bugis and Minang migrated to Tanah Melayu (which is the Malaysia peninsular) to start a new live. They created their own community village throughout the peninsular. It is common in certain part of peninsular where the ritual and language is still being practiced till present day.
